Welcome to Primo Hardwoods — a small Australian hardwoods business focused on beautiful, natural timber for makers, woodturners, pen makers, and furniture projects.
We specialise in carefully selected Australian redgum, including pen blanks, slabs, and distinctive pieces chosen for their colour, grain, gum veins, and individual character. Every piece of timber is different, which is what makes working with natural wood so rewarding.
Our aim is simple: to make quality Australian hardwood easier for makers to discover, understand, and use. We provide clear product information, honest photographs, practical care guidance, and Australia-wide tracked shipping where the product size allows. Local pickup is also available by arrangement.
Redgum pen blanks
Our redgum pen blanks are prepared for pen turning and other small woodcraft projects. Blanks are priced at $5 each, with bundle options available for makers who need more than one piece.
The approximate standard size is 20–25 mm square by 125–150 mm long, although exact dimensions, grain direction, colour, and natural features vary by batch. Listings may show the actual blank being sold so you can assess the timber before ordering.
Redgum slabs and larger pieces
We also offer Australian redgum slabs and larger timber pieces when suitable stock is available. Each slab is sold according to its individual dimensions, thickness, grain, drying information, edge character, and natural features.
Redgum slabs may be suitable for shelves, benches, furniture components, feature panels, signs, serving pieces, and decorative projects, depending on the condition and dimensions of the individual piece. Customers are welcome to contact us with their preferred length, width, thickness, grain appearance, and intended project so we can discuss current availability.
Larger or heavier slabs may require a freight quotation or local collection. Local pickup is available by arrangement.
Our Ancient Range
The Ancient Range is a special collection within Primo Hardwoods for timber selected for its aged appearance, deep character, distinctive grain, weathered features, or connection to the natural story of the wood.
Pieces in this range may include unusual colour, prominent gum veins, textured surfaces, striking grain movement, natural edge features, or other characteristics that make them stand apart from ordinary stock. Each item is assessed individually and described honestly so customers can understand what makes it special.
The name Ancient Range describes the collection's character and presentation. It should not be taken to mean that every piece is proven to be ancient, fossilised, reclaimed, or a specific age unless the individual product listing provides confirmed documentation. Where the origin, age, reclamation history, or drying history is known, those details will be stated in the listing.
A natural material, individually different
Natural timber is never perfectly uniform. Colour, grain, gum veins, knots, small checks, movement, bark inclusions, and other features may vary from one piece to another. These are natural characteristics, not manufacturing defects, although significant features will be described where possible.
We encourage customers to review the photographs, measurements, grain notes, and availability information for each listing. If you need a matched pair, a particular size, a specific colour, or a premium grain selection, contact us before ordering so we can confirm what is available.
Our approach
We believe makers deserve straightforward information before they buy. That means describing timber carefully, showing useful photographs, stating approximate or exact measurements clearly, and being transparent about natural variation, packing, dispatch, shipping, and pickup arrangements.
Whether you are turning a single pen, preparing a special gift, building a feature piece, or searching for a distinctive Australian hardwood slab, Primo Hardwoods is here to help you find timber with genuine character.
Thank you for supporting Primo Hardwoods and Australian timber products.
