Ancient River Redgum
Ancient Petrified Red Gum Blank – Fossilised Wood Specimen
A rare, fully petrified red gum blank, cut and finished for use in knife making, pen turning, or fine craft work — or simply displayed as a natural curiosity. The deep black surface and tight, fine grain running through the wood have been perfectly preserved by the fossilisation process, with natural fissures along one edge adding character to each piece.
Independently tested by ANSTO (Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation) via Accelerator Mass Spectrometry radiocarbon analysis (Report PRGI 88214, Run 1027, dated 5 July 2023), this material returned a conventional radiocarbon age of 10,000 ± 2,000 years BP. ANSTO's report notes that fully petrified (silicified) wood sits at the practical limit of radiocarbon dating, so this figure is best read as an indicative minimum age rather than a precise date. A copy of the lab report is included with every purchase.
